There are few more recognizable and respected members of the Canadian Sport Fishing industry than Gord Pyzer. I grew up reading Gord’s work, and to this day still learn from his many articles and productions. So, when I got the opportunity to have him on the One More Cast Show, it was truly a dream come true. Like many of the greats, Gord is terribly approachable and humble, and just a purely genuine person despite his hectic schedule.

We’re going to take a look at Gord’s early career in the Ministry of Natural Resources; much of his work in those days are still benefitting anglers today. It’s particularly the work that Gord did in Lake of the Woods that has contributed to this water body being a world class fishery for trophy musky. We talk a little bit about catch and release, the danger of over-fishing bodies of water, and the movement toward reproductions over live mounts of trophy fish.

It’s intimidating interviewing someone who has so much knowledge on the subject, but Gord made it almost effortless. I have learned volumes from Gord over the years, and I expect you will learn a lot in this episode and those that follow.
